Welcome

We are currently on another long distance hike, and the third leg of our "triple crown", the Continental Divide Trail (the "CDT"). Come along with us if you can - if not in person then by following our grand adventure via our "posts from the trail".  Check out our Flickr Photos, which we'll update periodically, and see it through our eyes!

Our Credo...

"Success: To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!" ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

C2C – Our Itinerary

This schedule plans on eighteen days of hiking and four days of leisure. Faster hikers or those more in a hurry will frequently combine some sections and /or take fewer days off, walking the Coast to Coast route in 12 to 14 days. The first two days could be combined into one long day all the way to Ennerdale Bridge. The Vale of Mowbray (from Richmond to Ingleby Cross) can be done as one long 23 mile day. It is basically flat and has fewer features of interest than the rest of the walk. Alas, the speedsters who do this miss out on one of the best places to spend a night – the White Swan Inn in Danby Whiske. Many walkers will cover Grosmont to Robin Hoods Bay in one day, getting into the village too late to enjoy its lunchtime charms. By combining one more section and not taking any rest days, it would be very possible to squeeze this into two weeks, a “Standard American Vacation” time frame. None of us were in any mood to rush this walk at the end, wanting it to last as long as possible.
