May 21st – It Must Be Heaven
We’re in Agua Dulce, taking a zero day (a day off) at a hiker hostel, resting, eating, getting caught up on email and eating..
Indeed we are in that slice of heaven created by those trail gods, the Saufley’s. With hot showers, and laundry done for you with “regular” clothes to wear while you wait, matress beds, phone and internet, this place has evrything that ahiker needs.
Most people take a day or two off to rest up and socialize with other hikers who would otherwise be a day ahead or behind. And so, we are doing the same. There are too many hikers here to name them all, including some we haven’t seen in a couple weeks such as Audrey, Tall Paul, Birdnut and Dave and Lexi who are now going by Packman and Wildflower.
The Saufley’s have two cars that are used as communal transport and we joined a crew for a fabulous breakfast at the Halfway House, not too far away.
The rest of the day was spent realaxing and socializing, doing internet and phone calls and eating…mmmmm…..Pizza…..
This is a nice place, but the large number of hikers, over 35 today, create some confusion and sensory overload.
